| I have had a dream for over 15 years of building a Christian school in my area. We have many low socio economic families and our area is rural. I have prayed and prayed for God to show me how to manage to find the funds to make it a reality. Last year I entered an essay contest and won over 61K dollars for my current public school. I have taught for over 22 years and I really feel a need to build a school because I see our kids slowly losing all knowledge of God, and I think I can make a difference, if I can find the funding. I think my writing ability is a tool God has given me for that purpose. I just need to know where to go to for resources and funding possibilities. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi, my name is Wynelle and my husband Paul and I are missionaries in Colombia South America. We are working with a church of over 5000 who is Assemblies of God.
They have a Christian school with over 400 students and have just recently been blessed with land and buildings to expand but there are some major things we need to help them purchase.
We are looking for non profit donations as we have our own 501(c)(3) and/or we are happy to apply for grants which would allow us to spend the money for things here but mostly we have to purchase in the US which is a blessing for the US as well.
We need to raise the following: 1) $25,000 for technology and a science lab. 2) $10,000 a/c for the classrooms (over 100 most days in temperature) 3) $15,000 for materials needed for teaching.
WE look forward to hearing from you even the Lord lays it on your heart to sow a seed into this prosperous ministry.
Blessings, Wynelle |

Cornerstone Community School in Stow Ohio has always managed to do fairly well in raising money through events and individual donors. We have not pursued grants on a consistent basis. So, as a non-experienced grant seeker, would this current economic times be the time to begin? Any suggestions and advice would be helpful on WHERE and HOW to begin.
Thank you. |

Kim,
If you have never pursued grants before, now is not necessarily a bad time nor is a good time to begin. There are several things you must be aware of. First, most foundations have lost a significant amount of money in their investments. Simply put, this means that they have less to give. But, they are still giving. There is definitely more competition. It will be extremely important to make sure that your grant proposals stand out so they get read, and not just put to the bottom of the pile.
From what I have seen, organizations that are focusing on specific projects are being more successful in obtaining funding. I would also encourage you to explore local foundations before reaching out to regional and national foundations.
Feel free to email if you have any more questions.

I taught partime an Art Class to the Children. I have 4 chldren in my family and other two we're adopted parentless children. My two children have newly graduated in bachelors of education.
