| With youth group dwindling and disappearing in our area, we are having trouble reaching the youth who ARE churched, let alone the unchurched. Fully 1/3 of 50 churches I spoke with have NO youth ministry. Another 1/3 have interim people with no emotional investment in their kids. The ones with a current group are not intersted in reaching out to unchurched kids. WE- Light At The Lighthouse, are trying to develop events and activities for youth that will excite them about the Lord. Where do we begin looking for funding? |

| We are facing a similar situation. We are in need of training Youth leaders / Parents & Youth Programmes that is christian based. The need is more to train Youth Workers - this will result in Youth being challenged and Changed by God. |

Gayle, I would encourage you to look at foundation funding sources that indicate they are interested in youth development or youth ministries. This will probably include both Christian funding sources as well as "secular" funding sources. Quite often, funders realize the need to equip youth with protective factors that help them to resist risky behaviors.

Gayle,
I would like to suggest that before you seek out funds that you step back and pray about what you are offering youth. The majority of churches are experiencing the same problem and as I have looked into it, they are just not being relative to what the teens need. It will definitely take thinking "out of the box" to reach them.
Once you understand their needs then you can create a proposal that clearly identifies the need and find dollars to match that need. |
