The
Compassion Capital Fund and the Mentoring Children of Prisoners grant
are two grant opportunities that currently exist for faith-based organizations.
The Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Program assists faith-based and
community
organizations in increasing their effectiveness, enhancing their ability to
provide
social
services, expand their organizations, diversify their funding sources,
and create collaborations to better serve those most
in need.
Through this grant
intermediary organizations in
well-defined geographic locations with a proven track record of providing
technical assistance to smaller faith-based and
community organizations in their
communities are eligible. These intermediary
organizations will serve as a bridge between the
Federal government and the faith-based
and community organizations.
Intermediary
organizations will provide two services within their
communities:
technical assistance to faith-based and community organizations
financial support--through sub-awards--to some subset of the faith-based and community organizations in their communities.
DEADLINE:
Applications due May 18, 2004.
AWARD AMOUNT: Approximately
$7 million is available to fund up to 12 awards. Average grant amount will be

4 Major Mailing Mistakes Most Ministries Make
Do you mail the same thing to everyone on your list every time? After 25 years of helping organizations like World Vision and Focus on the Family with their mailings, Rory Starks of Masterworks says he’s still learning. However, many Christian organizations are mailing the same things the same way to the same people and expecting different results. Those organizations would benefit greatly from a commitment to continuous learning. Rory says, "The way to continuously learn is to continuously test." Experiment with different designs, inserts, offers, and lists, and then compare the results. For example, the Money for Ministry newsletter features many creative mailing ideas from other Christian organizations that you can use. Rory describes three more major mailing mistakes that most ministries make in the March issue of Money for Ministry. Try it risk-free today at
