Christian Grant writers Network is Live!!!

I am pleased to report that the long awaited Christian Grant writers Network is now available!!  The CGN will allow ministries the opportunity to view and contact Christian grant writers from around the country.  Ministries will be able to view each grant writers’ experience and history in writing grants and then make contact for more information if you choose.  You will also be able to rate grant writers based upon the experience you had with them.  If you’re a Christian grant writer you will be able to post your information online for thousands of ministries to view.  You will then be able to choose, after a ministry makes initial contact with you, which ministry or ministries you want to work with.  Go to www.Christiangrants.com today and read more about this service.  If you’re a ministry looking for a grant writer or a grant writer looking to partner with a ministry this site is for you!!!

10 Do’s and Don’t For Excellent Relationships With Foundations

DO THIS!!

  1. Find out who this foundation has funded before - research
  2. Find out how much they have given toward your issues- more research.
  3. Be honest, upfront, about everything – integrity.
  4. Make personal contact if possible – remember they get lots of requests.
  5. Give yourself plenty of time – really think it all through
  6. Fully design your program – evaluate the request over and over and let others read it over before submitting.
  7. Read over all materials they give you before starting – be prepared.
  8. Follow all instructions.
  9. Be clear, concise and specific.
  10. Have a strong evaluation plan on how you are going to measure the program/project request.

DON’T DO THIS!!!

  1. Promise too much that you know you can’t deliver.
  2. Wait until the last minute to do the proposal  -rushing shows up in the quality of the request.
  3. Harass the foundation with lots of calls.  One or two calls to gain further information and create a contact is good.
  4. Fax proposals – a huge no-no.
  5. Send proposals with spelling errors.
  6. Leave anything out that you think they don’t need but they have asked for.  They want this information for a reason.
  7. Hand-write anything.
  8. Don’t make assumptions - be sure you are clear in what they are asking for and what they want.
  9. Ask for more/less than you need.  Be accurate.
  10. Go into a meeting with a foundation unprepared… you need to think of every possible question they may ask and role-play with your staff/board.
